OUR MINISTRIES

Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church and school, where we are committed to serving our community and spreading the message of love and hope. Our ministries are designed to provide support, guidance, and a sense of belonging to all members of our congregation.

Zion Lutheran School

Zion Lutheran School has been serving the Alexandria Community and beyond for over 130 years. At Zion School you will find personal attention, academic excellence, and Christian values.

Zion School is one of the larger ministries that we have at Zion Church as we strive to nurture children in God's grace, now and forever.

Quilting Ministry

The Zion Quilters are a very active ministry group whose purpose is to create quilts to wrap a hug around those who are sick, hurting, or needing encouragement.  We make over 300 quilts a year and donate quilts locally, nationally, and internationally.

Locally we give to Love INC, United Way, Knute Nelson Hospice, West Central Communities Initiative (Alexandria Fire Victims),  Life Connections and local fundraisers. We also donate quilts to Eagles Nest in Sauk Centre, Lutheran Island Camp in Henning for their annual quilt auction, and foster children in Pinal County, AZ.

We meet on Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Fireside Room and welcome new members at any time. We have a wonderful fellowship besides sewing quilts.

Sunday School

Families are invited to join us for Sunday School from

9:20 - 10:15 a.m. Sunday mornings.

Registration will begin shortly.

Youth Ministry

Our doors are open, and we are excited to have you at any one of our activities, Bible studies and worship services.

Here at Zion youth, we work hard at making sure you see yourself as a chosen child of Christ who has been given gifts and abilities to use to glorify Him. We have youth mentors within our group that will happily welcome and guide you if this is the first time you have ever tried a youth program out. We want this experience to excite you to learn more about Christ.

Take this as your invitation to come join us! Watch our Facebook page for all our upcoming events, or contact Pastor Lorenz or Mary Seehafer at zyouth@zionalex.org. We can’t wait to meet you!

International Ministry

Zion Lutheran Church and School continues to reach out to missionaries and ministries across the globe.

We partner with Together In Mission and the LCMS Mission Central.

Men's Ministry

When and Where

Zion's Men's Ministry meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm from September through May with a fish fry to end the Ministry year. Meetings begin with a potluck dinner, followed by devotions and a speaker. At times our own members are the speaker offering a story of life experience.

Our Mission and Purpose
"My purpose as a part of Men's Ministry is to honor Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, service and obedience to His Word through the power of the Holy Spirit.  I am committed to practicing spiritual, moral, ethical, and sexual purity. My focus will be a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to uniting men to the Lord while supporting the mission of our church."

LWML (Lutheran Women in Mission)

LWML Mission Statement: "The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world."

We meet the second Tuesday of the month (except in January and February) at 6:30 p.m. The activity each month varies from speakers to service projects to Bible studies. Through the work of the local group, zone, district, and national involvement through LWML, the women support mission grants around the world, participate in human care activities, and have fellowship.

Who can join?

Women who are communicant members of Zion are encouraged and welcome to join Evening Guild as they together “Serve the Lord with gladness!”.
